Why does my air purifier's VOC level increase when I use aroma oils?

Aroma oils release gases (VOCs) that the sensor can detect. VOC readings indicate the presence and concentration of gases, not whether they are harmful at typical household levels. A temporary rise from fragrance use is common and usually drops once the diffusion has stopped or fresh air is introduced into the room.

A VOC spike after using aroma oils means:

  • The sensor is functioning as intended
  • The purifier is detecting fragrance-related gases
  • The unit may increase fan speed to improve air quality

VOC levels should gradually return to normal after the source is removed. Avoid placing diffusers directly next to Air Purifiers.
