UPDATE: After posting this review as a two star, I was contacted by Blueair Customer Support and provided a fair solution to my problem. I don't know why these three filters started smelling after 2 months of use and just got worse and worse, but this batch was the only one that did that. I replaced them with 3 more I had purchased at the same time and no smell, no problem. I have to give Blueair Support credit, they stood behind their product. I have to rerate these filters to 5 stars, as otherwise I am very satisfied with the 610B and the Classic filters!!
Like Veronica's review from 3 years ago, I also am getting a distinctly chemical smell from my Blueair 610B purifier. I changed filters six months ago. About 2 months ago I noticed a chemical smell in the conditioned room. It took me over a month to figure out where the smell was coming from, as my air purifier was the last place I suspected and I kept turning it on and up to try to eliminate the odor. I read your reply to Veronica and tried the fresh air and run full blast and stay out of the room. The smell got to be so terrible I replaced the filters. I have kept the old ones (outside) because you really have to smell them to believe it. Could the carbon side, which is where the smell is coming from be breaking down from sunlight or heat? I'd be glad to furnish these stinkers if you want to figure it out.
