All Blue Pure Max air purifiers monitor and display the PM2.5 levels in the room. In addition to the PM2.5 sensor, the Blue Pure 211i Max also a more advanced sensor that monitors PM1 and PM10 for those that may be more sensitive to a variety of air pollutants.
Particulate matter (PM) is the term for a mixture of solid particles and liquids droplets found in the air. Particles have different sizes and or more or less visible.
- PM10 are particles with diameter of 10 micrometers and smaller. Examples of PM10: pollen, dust (settling dust, cement dust), mold spores.
- PM2.5 have a diameter of 2.5 micrometers and smaller. (human hair is approximately 70 micrometer in diameter). Example of PM2.5: house dust, animal dander, bacteria, cooking oil smoke/grease, smog, fly ash, settling dust.
- PM1 have a diameter of 1 micrometer and smaller. Example of PM1 (from 0.3 to 1 micrometer): Bacteria, suspended dust, house dust, animal dander, smog, tobacco smoke, soot
- The PM levels are indicated by 5 different colors on a front LED on the air purifier and in micrograms per cubic meter air in the Blueair app.
- (1 microgram = one-millionth of a gram)
On the Blue Pure 211i Max, the air quality levels and values are indicated on the air purifier directly. The air quality indicator on the front of the Blue Pure 211i Max shows the most polluted level of the three particle matter sizes. On the top control panel, you can choose which particle size you want to see by using the toggle button.
