Cleaning the pre-filter on your Blue Signature air purifier is simple and helps maintain the purifier’s performance by reducing dust buildup. Here’s exactly how to do it:
How to Clean the Pre-Filter
The pre-filter is the outer fabric layer that wraps around the device. It's washable and reusable, and it captures larger particles like lint, pet hair, and dust before they reach the main filter.
Step-by-Step Cleaning Instructions
1. Turn Off and Unplug
-
Always unplug the purifier from the power outlet before maintenance.
2. Remove the Fabric Pre-Filter
-
Gently slide or pull off the fabric cover from around the unit.
3. Clean the Pre-Filter
You have two options:
Vacuum Cleaning (Quick option)
- Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris from the surface.
Washing (Deep cleaning)
- Wash the fabric by hand or in a washing machine according to the care instructions on its label.
- Do not use bleach or harsh chemicals.
- Let the fabric air dry completely — do not place it back while damp.
4. Reattach the Pre-Filter
- Once fully dry, pull the clean fabric cover back over the main filter.
- Make sure the Blueair logo tag is on the upper part for correct alignment.
How Often Should I Clean It?
Clean the pre-filter:
- When visibly dirty or dusty, or
- Every 2–4 weeks in homes with pets, smokers, or high dust levels
