Replacing your filters is quick and easy

When your device’s filter indicator light turns red, it’s time to replace the wick filter. Watch the video below for a full walkthrough of changing your wick & resetting you filter light, or follow the simple step-by-step instructions on this page.

Changing your filters

After approximately 9-12 months of use, or when the Air Filter Replacement Indicator turns red, it’s time to replace your air filter.
You can also check the remaining filter lifetime in the Blueair app.

To change your air filter:

Turn off the device and unplug it from the power outlet.
Open the front panel from the top air outlet.
Gently slide out the pre-filter and use a vacuum with a soft brush attachment to remove dust from the pre-filter.
Pull the wick from the pre-filter frame and set it aside.
Twist to unlock and lift the pre-filter frame and set it aside.
Use the filter pull tab to remove the old air filter and insert the new air filter.
Reinstall the pre-filter frame, wick, and pre-filter, then close the front panel.
Plug the device back in and turn it on.
Press and hold the Air Filter Replacement Indicator for 5 seconds to reset the filter lifetime. You can also reset the filter lifetime through the Blueair app.

Cleaning the Wick

Blueair recommends cleaning or washing the wick every two weeks and descaling it once a month to help prevent mineral buildup and maintain performance.

Wash the wick using a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Allow the wick to air dry and do not tumble dry in a dryer.

How to descale your pump & tank

Regular descaling helps keep your 2-in-1 working its best by removing mineral buildup from the tank and pump. Follow the steps below to clean your humidifier using citric acid descaling powder.

Before you begin

Unplug the humidifier.
Rinse the inside of the tank with fresh water.
Wipe away any loose or visible mineral buildup with a clean towel.

Step 1: Mix the Descaling Solution

First, fill the tank with 2 L (0.5 gal) of water. Then add the descaling powder and mix well.

For monthly maintenance
Use a 2% descaling solution.

Add 1 pouch (1 oz) of descaling powder to 2 L (0.5 gal) of water.

For heavy buildup or pump issues
Use a stronger 4% descaling solution.

Add 2 pouches (2 oz total) of descaling powder to 2 L (0.5 gal) of water.

Important: The tank should be about halfway full. Always add the water first, then the descaling powder.

Step 2: Let the tank, pump & wick soak

Remove the sponge pre-filter from the pump and place it directly in the tank.
Place the pump into the tank as you normally would during assembly.
Make sure the bottom half of the pump is fully submerged in the descaling solution.
Let the tank, pump, and sponge pre-filter soak for 2 hours.

Step 3: Rinse and Reassemble

After 2 hours:

Remove the pump from the tank.
Thoroughly rinse the pump, sponge pre-filter, and tank separately with fresh water.
Reassemble your humidifier.
Fill the tank with fresh water before using it again.

Your humidifier is now ready to use.
