After my HEPA air filtration unit stopped working, I felt the need to purchase a Blueair unit, which I did, elsewhere. I was still having issues with the downstairs tenant who smokes tobacco and cannabis, which I would smell as soon as I opened the door to my apartment coming back from errands. My first Blueair unit (5440i) did not seem up to the task of keeping the air clean throughout the whole apartment, so I decided, through much research as well as trepidation, to purchase this particular Blueair unit. Box was a bit battered from delivery, no instructions, so downloaded them from their site. Setup was similar to my other Blueair unit (purchased one month prior); turned gateway modem (T-Mobile Home Internet) to 2.4 ghz only upon setup, have app on both iPad & Android, no issues there. Have unit set on auto; when blowing out my baseboards and especially my Vornado air circulator, which were very dusty, unit kicked into overdrive, and progressively slowed down as the air quality improved.

It still hasn’t dealt with the cannabis and tobacco smell from directly below me, but it is doing a reasonable job cleaning the air.

I also decided on purchasing another fabric pre-filter, so one can be used while the other is washed. Followed the instructions for washing and came out fine, no issues.

Would I recommend? Still too early to say.

Purchasing this unit refurbished was fine other than the filter life at startup being at 98%. Was cheaper than the equivalent unit even on sale.…
