Our journey began in 1996 with the creation of our ground-breaking air filtration technology, HEPASilent™. It was developed by our Swedish founder, who wanted to ensure that his newborn daughter could breathe the same clean air inside their city home as out in the pristine Swedish archipelago.
The HEPASilent™ patent has laid the foundation for 25 years of award-winning innovation in air purification. It has improved the lives of millions of people, and is trusted by governments, healthcare professionals and families in more than 60 countries around the world.
Our Swedish heritage means that sustainability and premium quality are at the heart of what we do. All of our air purifiers are designed in Sweden to the highest standards of safety, sustainability and quality, and made from responsibly sourced and recyclable materials. In 2007, the Blueair ECO10 purifier was launched and became the most energy-efficient in the world, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency: today, all our purifiers can be run on less energy than a lightbulb.
Our innovations have also been awarded some of the world’s best-known design prizes for their functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. These include iF DESIGN AWARDs, Red Dot Design Awards, the JDP G-mark Good Design Award, a Wallpaper* Smart Space award, endorsements and recommendations from Wired, Good Housekeeping and the New York Times – and the top three spots in the Air Purifier category from the latest US Consumer Reports.
At Blueair, we believe that we have a responsibility to help protect and safeguard our children, our society, and our planet. Our purpose of providing clean air for the next generation is the reason that we exist, the reason that we drive sustainable innovation in air purification, and the reason that we continue our founder’s fight for children’s freedom to breathe clean, safe and healthy air.
Our CLEAN AIR FOR CHILDREN initiative has, through advocacy and donations, improved access to clean air for more than one million children worldwide. And with our Freedom to breathe campaign and our Clean Air Prize, we provide young change-makers from around the world with a platform to fight air pollution and claim their right to clean air.
We will never stop fighting for your freedom to breathe.
