While typical air purifiers simply push dirty air through a filter, our HEPASilent™ technology combines two filtration technologies. The result is more clean air at a faster rate¹, with whisper-silent operation that consumes less energy than a lightbulb.²
Airborne particles receive an electrical charge that makes them ‘sticky’ – so instead of simply passing through, smaller particles stick to the filter. Larger particles are caught in the filter mesh.
Traps the smallest particles
This unique combination of two filtration technologies effectively removes 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 micron, trapping even the smallest viruses* and microplastics in addition to dust, pollen, pet dander, bacteria and smoke. Activated carbon in our filters then removes odors, gases and VOC’s.

Once caught in the filter, the combination of electrical charging and high air flow then kills³ 99% of germs* – which also helps prevent any bacterial growth within the air purifier itself.

Quiet and energy friendly
Because the charged particles stick to the filters more easily, we can use less dense filters, which require less air pressure to push air through. This means that Blueair Air Purifiers can produce more clean air at lower fan speeds, which also makes them less noisy and less energy consuming.³
Typical HEPA filters: mechanical filtration only
A dense HEPA filter with very tiny holes captures particles, but this means less clean air passes through the filter.
To push enough air through a dense HEPA filter, the fan must run at a higher speed, which creates more noise.
Running the fan at a higher speed also uses more energy.
Mechanical (HEPA) filtration on its own catches virus and bacteria – but can allow germ growth in the filter as the germs are not inactivated.
HEPA filtration catches particles down to 0.3 microns in size such as dust, pollen and smoke.
