The filter media is USDA Certified 100% Biobased. Lanaco holds ISO 9001 certification for theirmanufacturing processes. The filter is also made with patent-pending EcoStatic® media.
Yes. Lanaco's wool-based filtration technology has been used in emergency air protection systems aboard NASA's Artemis missions. That same proven technology is the foundation for the EcoLast™ filter.
No. Shearing is a normal and necessary part of sheep care — wool grows continuously, and regular shearing is important for animal welfare. Lanaco's suppliers follow recognized shearing codes of practice, which are independently monitored and audited.
The wool is sourced from free-range sheep in New Zealand, where animals live outdoors year-round on open pasture. There is no factory farming in Lanaco's supply chain.
Blueair developed the EcoLast™ in direct partnership with Lanaco, a New Zealand-based wool technology company specializing in high-performance, sustainable air filtration media. Lanaco supplies the EcoStatic®filter media, which Blueair then manufactures into the finished filter.
You should first confirm the air purifier model name to find which filters are compatible with your unit.
The Serial Number and the MAC address appear on two different labels underneath the device.
If your air purifier is connected to the Blueair app you can additionally view the MAC address by selecting air purifier name and navigating to Product Settings › Product Information.
Once you know your model number, you can go to https://www.blueair.com/us/air-purifier-filters. Scroll down and select the model you have. All compatible filters and pre-filters will then be displayed. You can then click and order your filter as needed.
In order to have an active SmartFilter subscription, the unit must be registered and SmartFilter subscription purchased through the app.
SmartFilter replacement filter shipments require a signal from the Air Purifier to trigger the replacement shipment. If you have purchased a subscription on the Blueair website but have not registered your unit and connected in the app the Air Purifier cannot send the trigger for the replacement filter shipment.
The air purifier accurately indicates when the filter needs to be changed. The filter lifetime is calculated with a smart algorithm (patent-pending) and based on the particle levels in the room and the airflow during the time the filter has been used. The filter lifetime status can also be monitored in the Blueair app. You should expect a filter lifetime of maximum 1 year.
To manage your filter subscription shipment date, log in to your Blueair account directly on the Blueair website.
Sign in to your account and click on Filter Subscription for filter subscription changes, including moving forward, delaying, or stopping future shipments. You can also update your payment information, shipping address, as well as register a new device directly in your online account.
Please visit www.blueair.com/us for purchasing replacement filters.
Blueair recommends a filter change every six months. The light on your filter timer will indicate when it is time to replace your filter after six months of continual use.
If you use your unit in a highly polluted environment, you need to change it more often. To ensure the unit’s high-quality performance, we recommend that you only use genuine Blueair filters.

Biobased means the materials come from natural, renewable, above-ground sources — like wool and plants— rather than fossil-derived materials like conventional plastics. The EcoLast™ filter media is certified 100%biobased by the USDA.
The EcoLast™ is made from wool that is USDA Certified as 100% biobased and PLA (a plant-derived plastic). The carbon layer uses a paper-based carrier with biobased, biodegradable glue. The packaging is also designed to be sustainable and biodegradable. Unlike traditional synthetic filters, it does not shed microplastics.
When you replace your 211i Max filter with an EcoLast™ Wool Filter you will need to scan the QR code on the packaging, which lets the App know a longer lifetime filter has been installed and extends the filter life timer accordingly. When it's time to replace, you'll receive a notification through the Blueair app.
The EcoLast™ Wool Filter lasts up to 50% longer than our standard replacement filters.
The EcoLast™ uses Lanaco's patented EcoStatic® technology. During manufacturing, wool fibers are given positive and negative surface charges through a mechanical process — no chemicals or heat involved. These opposing charges attract and capture air borne particulate matter, similar to how static electricity works. The filter's porous, non-woven structure also allows air to flow through freely, resulting in ultra-low air resistance and a low pressure drop.
The EcoLast™ Wool Filter is currently available exclusively as a replacement filter for the Blueair 211i Max. It is not compatible with other Blueair models at this time.
The EcoLast™ Wool Filter is the world's first biobased electrostatic wool filter for air purifiers. It's sold as a replacement filter for the Blueair 211i Max, made from wool certified by the USDA as 100% biobased. It delivers similar high performance to our regular filters while being a more sustainable choice for the planet.
